When we started building PlastShop Sweden we faced the same choice as everyone else: Enterprise or Community? The license fees for Enterprise are not unreasonable, but they accumulate. And what Enterprise gives you, you can often build yourself if you have the know-how.
We had the know-how. Or rather: we built it.
22 custom-built modules later, we have a system that does exactly what PlastShop needs. No code we don't understand. No features we pay for but never use. And the best part: when Odoo releases a new version, we can upgrade on our terms, not theirs.
Community Edition lacks certain things that Enterprise has. Studio, for example. Or the built-in helpdesk module. But we have built our own variants of what we need. HeartPro, our training and safety system, has a helpdesk that does precisely what our client needs. Nothing more, nothing less.
The point is not that Enterprise is bad. The point is that Community is enough for most, if you are willing to put in the development time. And that time gives you a system you own outright.
